I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon as well as a Master’s level Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.I have worked as a mental health counselor for residential and outpatient agencies since graduating from Lewis & Clark College in 1997 with a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology. I have been in private practice, since 2003, and offer individual, couples, and family counseling services at The North Portland Growth Place. I work with adults, children, and adolescents.I contract with most major insurance plans and provide Employee Assistance Provider services for many companies. Areas of clinical interest: I am most experienced in working with grief, loss, depression, adjustment, anxiety, trauma, abuse, chemical dependency, adolescent, family, and women’s issues.Throughout my practice, I have observed a pronounced need for improved self-care among my clients and this has become of special interest to me.We cannot provide care for others if we are not caring for ourselves first.This philosophy is the foundation for my work as a therapist. In addition I provide licensure supervision to LPC candidates. Theoretical Orientation: I utilize strength based, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral approaches to therapy.My approach is to listen, build relationship and validate feelings prior to focusing on developing a plan for change.
