Time for Spring Cleaning
Spring will officially be here on March 21st, despite the mixed messages we get from the weather! This is the time of year to do "spring cleaning", declutter, discard, freshen up, and refresh. Often our physical environment reflects our inner state, or it at least affects our inner state, our emotional health. Clutter, both internal as well as external can prevent us from accessing our potential, focusing, or relaxing.
So, as you clean out closets, put away winter cloths, shake out rugs... think about an emotional spring cleaning. Perhaps forgive pent up grudges, let go of resentments, let go of unhealthy relationships, seek resolution to lingering emotional baggage. Decluttering mentally as well as physically can be hugely overwhelming, but you do not have to do it all in one day. Break it up into small tasks, sort through one junk drawer, clean one closet, write one letter to an estranged family member, today, then take on another small task tomorrow….What better time to start then now?
And don’t forget to appreciate the moment, the flowers, the birds, longer days!
